Get to know us

We are a collective of musicians and enthusiasts based in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North-East of England. We are a small charity recognised by HMRC in UK for gift aid purposes. The day to day operation is run by a small team of three trustees. We organise concerts, workshops, lecture demonstrations and other events to promote Indian Classical music in our community.

Our mission

Our mission is to promote Indian classical music in the music loving community of North-East of England.

Our vision

We want to achieve our mission by organising various Indian classical musical events throughout the year. We want to support musicians, particularly those based in the North-East of England and increase knowledge and appreciation of this genre of music in our community. We would like to develop links with our local partner organisations such as educational institutions and other charities and organisations working in this space.

Our team

Indriya is a collective of like-minded musicians and music enthusiasts. It was set up by Professors Sudipta Roy and David Clarke in Newcastle and were later joined by Dr Dipayan Mitra. While they come from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds, they have a shared passion for Indian Classical Music as an art form. They are currently the three members of the board of trustees.
